Latest v0.8.0 · Matomo ≥ 5.0.0

What it does for you
01

Keywords are back

Google stopped sending keywords to web analytics years ago. SearchReport puts queries, clicks, impressions and positions right next to your visit data — including a Keywords ⇄ Pages drill-down in both directions.

02

History without an expiry date

Search Console forgets after 16 months. Your Matomo doesn't: imports land in your own database with unlimited retention — year-over-year SEO comparisons, owned by you, GDPR-friendly.

03

Set up once, updated daily

Connect a Google service account and your Bing API key once — a daily task imports automatically, starting with a 16-month backfill. Row evolution, flatten and exports work like in any Matomo report.

Frequently asked questions

Google Search Console performance for all search types (web, images, videos, news, Discover, Google News) with all dimensions, plus sitemap status and budget-controlled URL inspection. From Bing Webmaster Tools: query and page stats, crawl statistics and issues, monthly backlink snapshots, and sitemaps.

Yes. Everything is stored in dedicated tables inside your Matomo database with unlimited retention. After the first import, the search engines' API windows stop mattering — your history just keeps growing.

A Google Cloud service account (its e-mail added as a user to your Search Console properties) and a Bing Webmaster API key. Paste both into the plugin settings, map each site once — a built-in connection test and system check verify everything.

No — this is search-engine API data, not visitor data, so Matomo segments don't apply here. Row evolution, flatten and all export formats work as usual.

Google publishes Search Console data with roughly two days delay; the daily import keeps you as current as the API allows.

SearchReport

SearchReport brings your organic search performance home into Matomo: it imports Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools through their official APIs and renders them as native Matomo reports in a dedicated "Search engines" menu section — right next to your visit analytics.

Reports

  • Keywords — queries with clicks, impressions, CTR and average position
  • Pages — landing pages, including a Keywords ⇄ Pages drill-down in both directions
  • Countries, devices, search types (web, images, videos, news, Discover, Google News) and search appearance
  • Keywords by device / country and ranking distribution
  • Every report supports row evolution, flatten and all Matomo export formats

Import & retention

  • Daily scheduled import; 16-month backfill on first run
  • Unlimited retention in dedicated snsearchreport_* tables inside your Matomo database — your history keeps growing beyond Google's 16-month API window
  • Budget-controlled URL inspection and sitemap status
  • Bing: query/page stats, crawl statistics and issues, monthly backlink snapshots, sitemaps

Setup (once, about 15 minutes)

  1. Create a Google Cloud service account with a JSON key and add its e-mail address as a user to each Search Console property.
  2. Paste the JSON into Administration → General settings → SnSearchReport, and add your Bing API key (Bing Webmaster Tools → Settings → API access).
  3. Map the GSC property and Bing site per website; optionally enable URL inspection.
  4. Verify via ./console snsearchreport:test-connection or the built-in system check, then load history with ./console snsearchreport:import --backfill.

From then on a daily scheduled task imports automatically. Manual runs: ./console snsearchreport:import [--idsite=N] [--source=google|bing] [--backfill].

Good to know

  • Google publishes data with about two days delay — choose report periods accordingly.
  • These are search-engine API metrics, not visitor data: Matomo segments do not apply in these reports.
  • On the roadmap (v0.2.0): dedicated Bing and indexing report pages plus a KPI overview.
