How it works
The daily update check
Once a day the connector contacts the store. It sends the Matomo and PHP version of your instance and the installed Feinwerk plugins with their versions. The store answers with the updates that fit your environment. Refresh on the Feinwerk Plugins page runs the check any time you like.
Only compatible versions
Every plugin version states in its plugin.json which Matomo and PHP versions it supports. The store only offers an instance versions that fit it. An update your installation cannot handle is never even shown to you.
Tested releases
Before a new version appears, automated tests run against several Matomo and PHP versions. Only when all tests pass is the version published in the store.
Download and integrity
On every download the store checks whether your instance may use the plugin. Free plugins always may; paid ones need an assigned license. Each file comes with a SHA-256 checksum that the connector verifies before installing.
Licenses
A license covers one Matomo instance and runs as long as the subscription does. After a cancellation it stays valid until the end of the paid term. After that, installed versions keep running technically, there are no more updates, and licensed features may switch off.
What data is transferred
The connector only transfers technical details of the instance: instance URL, Matomo and PHP version, installed plugins with versions and the number of Matomo users. Analytics data from your Matomo is never transferred. Details are in the privacy policy.
Security
Every instance has its own token. The store keeps it encrypted only and checks it on every request. In your customer account you can regenerate or revoke a token at any time. All connections use HTTPS.
When the store cannot be reached
The connector caches the last loaded data and keeps showing it. Installed plugins run independently of the store. Only update checks and new installations pause until the store is reachable again.
